Safety

Is your coloured sand safe?

Yes. We use coloured sand sourced from a reputable UK supplier. It has been independently tested for all six regulated types of asbestos, with none detected, and has passed EN71-1, EN71-2 and EN71-3 safety testing.

Is your sand non-toxic?

Yes. Our coloured sand is non-toxic and suitable for children’s craft activities when used as intended. The sand is not edible and should be kept away from mouths and eyes.

Will the sand stain clothing?

Our sand is colour-fast and usually brushes away easily. We still recommend wearing clothes suitable for crafting.

Are your activities messy?

Not as much as people expect. We use trays and simple techniques to keep mess to a minimum, and we tidy our activity area afterwards.

Are your products safety compliant?

We source our products and materials from reputable suppliers and check the relevant age guidance, safety information and UKCA or CE markings where required.

Do you carry out risk assessments?

Yes. Risk assessments are completed where appropriate to help ensure activities are delivered safely.

Is slime safe?

Our slime activities are fully guided and use measured craft ingredients. Slime is not edible and must be kept away from mouths and eyes. Children should wash their hands after the activity.

Please tell us about any allergies, skin sensitivities or medical needs before booking so we can discuss whether the activity is suitable.

What if my child has an allergy, sensitivity or additional need?

Please tell us about any allergies, medical conditions, sensory needs or access requirements before the activity. We’ll discuss possible adaptations and help you decide whether the activity is suitable.

We cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.

Can you work outdoors?

Yes. Outdoor events are welcome, providing the location and weather conditions are safe.

What happens if the weather is unsafe?

Safety is our priority. Strong winds, heavy rain or other unsafe conditions may mean an outdoor activity needs to be relocated, postponed or cancelled. We’ll discuss the available options with you.

Do you provide all the equipment?

Yes. We bring all the activity materials and specialist equipment required. Any venue requirements, including suitable tables, chairs, access to water or electricity, will be discussed before the event.

Do you clean up afterwards?

Yes. We tidy our activity materials and leave our activity area clean.

Do you take photographs during activities?

Photographs or videos will only be taken and used with the appropriate permission. You can choose not to give photography consent without it affecting participation.

Are you insured?

Yes. Sand Arts & Crafts holds Public Liability Insurance.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes. I have SEND knowledge and experience and aim to make activities welcoming, inclusive and enjoyable.

As a mum of four neurodivergent children, I understand that every child is unique. I’ll always do my best to make reasonable adaptations where possible.

The Activities

Do children keep what they make?

Yes. Everything they create is theirs to take home and enjoy.

Can children choose their own colours?

Absolutely. Choosing the colours and creating an individual design is one of the favourite parts of sand art.

Are your activities suitable for beginners?
